Overview

Braeside Thika (BTH) is one of the newest schools in the Braeburn group and we are looking forward to a very bright future. Braeside Thika was originally established in the Del Monte pineapple plantation in 1969, when it was taken over by Braeburn in January 2011; a new chapter in the history of the school began. With the move to a brand new building on a new site on Mangu Road in Thika, just off Thika Road in September 2013, and four years later we are now well established and enjoying the newly developed facilities which will continue to develop over the next few years in terms of facilities and academic success.

At BTH we provide learners opportunities to develop and succeed, while also enjoying a safe and happy learning environment, nurturing a sense of social responsibility and respect. It is our constant aim at BTH to bring out the best in our learners, providing a well-rounded experience for every individual to be literate, numerate, articulate and develop a blend of self-assured creativity, confidence, curiosity and courtesy. This will enable all our young people to cope with the demands and challenges of life in this unpredictable, changing 21st century and for wherever in the world they may live.

BTH is staffed by a qualified, dedicated and hardworking team of professional teachers who have high expectations of all its students. Parents are actively involved in the school and feel very much part of what goes on both formally through regular, effective communication and termly reports and Parent Meetings as well as through joining family social events organised by our parent teacher group FABT (Friends at Braeside Thika).

We pride ourselves in our open minded philosophies developed through a broad approach to ensuring that we have a strong educational focus where every child is given support so that they are provided with a personlised learning experience including support for gifted and talented pupils as well as an accelerated programme for pupils with individual learning needs.

We have transition programmes in place for pupils as they move from primary school into secondary and as they join 6th form as well as a programme for pupils who join us from other schools, countries and other educational systems. This includes a pastoral support network of peers to help quickly develop friendship circles and also from teachers. Additionally the Academic Deputy will put in place a schedule to ensure pupils are able to adjust to any challenges they might face academically.

Braeside Thika offers a vibrant, positive culture engendering mutual respect and appreciation as principle features of our school. Our enthusiastic teachers provide students with access to a broad curriculum and extensive co-curricular programme, ensuring that students explore their interests and discover their talents, creating young people who are successful and confident citizens of the world.
