Year 9 Painting lesson

10th February 2024

When Painting in our art lesson, it is not about smearing colour on a piece of canvas but putting a few things to play together. We need our paintings to be inspired and to mean a lot to us. So the first thing we need to do is to understand the different painting techniques then gather information on how artists explore them. Trials on techniques are important so that we can make informed choices when deciding on a personal outcome. After this is when the brush will meet with paint at the canvas surface.

Currently we are doing studies on Leonid Afremov’s work and connecting with his work through vibrant contrasting colours with evident strokes on canvases. Exploring his themes on sceneries and personal stories have been fun to study.
