Year 7 Science Lesson

Year 7 students in Science have been learning how to differentiate between elements mixtures and compounds. First of all they mixed Iron and Sulphur and then separated the mixture using a magnet demonstrating that iron is magnetic and Sulphur is not.
Afterwards the students heated the mixture forming iron sulphide which is a compound. Their next steps was to try to separate the compound again using a magnet and found that this was an irreversible reaction and the compounds could not be separated
