Year 10 Food & Nutrition Practical

15th June 2021

Food and Nutrition is an examinable subject at IGCSE level that has both theory and practical papers. Year 10 students have been working hard to ensure they acquire skills needed to excel in both papers. Thanks to Mrs. Machatha’s guidance, the candidates develop cookery skills by preparing a range of dishes with attention to detail and time.

Instant feedback, as seen on being given by Mrs.Machatha below, is of course key to the student assessing their own progress and to a large extent taking ownership of their learning process.

‘The practical lesson this week was quite interesting. We made fish cakes and a salad in relation to learning about fish during our theory sessions this week. We learnt how to cook fish using moist methods of cooking which included steaming, boiling and frying as well as how to make a salad. The best part was munching on what we cooked at the end of it all!’
