11th May 2024
On the 15 of April every year, the world celebrates World Art Day where links between creations and society are reinforced, awareness of diversity in artistic expressions and artists’ contribution to sustainable development are highlighted.
We are happy to say that this year Braeside Thika was part of the celebration and commemorated it on the first week of the third term when we came back from the holiday break. The event was designed to showcase the creativity and talent of our students and community while fostering a deeper appreciation for the Arts.
We engaged in various artistic activities and projects including painting, quizzes, games, colour runs from Tuesday, 23rd April and crowned it with a gala on Friday evening. Our artist for that week was Vincent Van Gogh and were inspired by the theme: TIMELESS TAPESTRY-Exploring culture through Art. We believe this experience did not only inspire imagination but also encouraged self-expression and cultural exploration.
We had a EYU and KS1 parents’ Paint and Sip event on the afternoon of Wednesday,24th April 2024 where we met for a relaxed canvas painting session over a drink and some background music by the students. To culminate the Art week, we enjoyed the Van Gogh experience, Art exhibition and Gala. We had the opportunity to view artwork created by our students and engaged with them to learn more about their creative processes. We are looking forward to even a better one next.
