Have you ever thought about where the wheels come from, and where they actually go? That is The Big Question in our History. The grandeur and beauty of steam locomotives has captured the hearts and imaginations of generation after generation of people to date. Travelling by train is one of the most awe-striking experiences one has ever faced(or so we think). It is exciting and full of adventure. It is an experience of a lifetime and is a memory to cherish. Be it a short distance or an overnight journey, a train journey is beautiful, and there are no scopes to get bored.
The Year 4 children in Braeburn Imani had a chance to travel down the memory lane of just how the rails came to be. They listened with curiosity and gusto as tales of the man eaters of Tsavo amongst many other challenges that the builders faced in the construction of the railway.
Some of the old steam locomotives stood majestically right from the entrance of the East African Railway Headquarters and for sure, it was too good to be true. While some screamed in glee, others were silent in awe! It was too good to be true. What a wonderful pre learning visit as we continue to delve further into the history of these majestic creations simultaneously looking at the future and where this is heading to.
