The Importance of Friendship in EYFS

22nd March 2025

Being friends is essential in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). Friendships play a vital role in helping us feel happy, safe, and included. Through our interactions with friends, we learn important social skills such as sharing, taking turns, and showing kindness to one another.

Each day, we practice being good friends by demonstrating love, kindness, and respect for everyone around us. Our time spent playing together as good friends not only brings us joy but also enriches our learning experiences. Together, we create a supportive environment where everyone can thrive and enjoy the journey of learning.

Shinnela: When someone is on your side, they make you happy.

Elsa: When you're sad, your friend cheers you up by playing with you.

Lisa: You share toys with your friend.

Vinny: You smile and hug them.

Roman: Work together as a team.

Ayden: Play together without arguing or fighting.
