Sheltering under umbrellas, our little learners make phonics fun outdoors!

At Braeside Thika, we believe the best learning happens when children are curious, engaged and having fun. This week, our youngest learners embarked on a delightful phonics adventure exploring the sound “u”, turning a rainy day into a vibrant learning experience.
Children donned their colorful umbrellas and rain gear, walking together outdoors under the gentle rain. The wet sidewalk and joyful expressions captured a moment of shared discovery and play, perfectly setting the scene for exploring words beginning with the “u” sound. This immersive activity combined real-life weather with language learning. As the children sheltered under their umbrellas, they practiced pronouncing words like umbrella, under and up, making phonics come alive beyond the classroom.
The excitement grew when a beautiful rainbow appeared, connecting their lesson to nature’s magic. Seeing the rainbow formed by sunlight and raindrops deepened their understanding and sparked wonder, reinforcing how learning and the world around us are wonderfully linked.
