The rainy season brought more than puddles and green grass to Braeside Thika, it brought adventure! Our FS2 children stepped outside with big smiles and curious minds, ready to search for “dudus” (insects) around the school grounds.
Fully prepared for their expedition, the children came equipped with spades and diggers for gentle soil exploration, magnifying lenses to closely observe their discoveries and gumboots to keep their feet dry and comfortable in the muddy terrain. The children eagerly explored the gardens and grassy areas, carefully digging and searching beneath leaves and stones. The excitement was contagious as learners uncovered earthworms, beetles, ants and other fascinating insects.
With magnifying lenses in hand, they observed tiny legs, colorful shells and wiggly movements up close. Through this hands-on experience, the children developed curiosity, strengthened their observation skills and learned to show care and respect for living things.
This fun outdoor activity helped the children learn about nature in a hands-on way. They built confidence, teamwork and observation skills, all while enjoying the fresh air and a little bit of mud. At Braeside Thika, even rainy days turn into unforgettable learning adventure
