As the rest of the students started their mid-term break holidaying, the President’s Award
team was visiting the expansive Aberdare Forest for their Adventurous Journey. The 4-days
expedition included participants aiming for their Bronze, Silver, and Gold Awards. The
walking journey started at the foot of the Aberdare Forest and ended, 3 days later, at Othaya
Town.
It was exciting to see how the students quickly assumed roles of responsibility in their
distinct groups. The most notable skills learnt, apart from perseverance, were quick problem-
solving abilities and coordination skills. The students were really impressive at these skills,
giving the accompanying teachers and the PA assessors an easy time to record their progress
in the attainment of the President’s Award.
