Play and learn!

Play is a natural and effective way for children to explore and learn. In BTH, FS2 class enjoyed Hop Scorch Game which is a great example of using play to teach mathematical concepts in a fun and engaging way.
We focused on identifying, counting numbers and simple number concepts while keeping children physically active. They further extended the game to aiming and children made scores depending on the number of rings in each cones which easily brought about subitising.
Learning opportunities that were evident were; problem solving, turn taking , and teamwork.
