Nature sparks curiosity and learning

4th November 2023

Outdoor play is essential for a child’s physical, mental, and emotional development. It helps children to build physical strength, develop social skills, boost creativity, curiosity and connect with nature.

Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass. It’s about learning how to dance in the rain’ Crèche class put this quote in mind as they got ready for outdoor learning as it was wet and drizzling. We were lucky as Mr. Sun popped out as we were still exploring outdoors. Outdoor play enhanced their imagination, curiosity and healthy risk taking. They discovered different places around the school, little creatures that live within from the ants, to butterflies and dragonflies.

Through the sparked interest on the butterflies we read The Very Hungry Caterpillar story where the children learnt about where butterflies come from, what they feed on and learnt new vocabulary like cocoon, caterpillar and lifecycle.

What a joyful learning experience.
