In year 2 class at BTH during their history lesson, they are uncovering the legacies of significant individuals. They have learned about Rosa Parks, a courageous figure in the Civil Rights Movement who helped dismantle segregation. The students reenacted the moment when Rosa refused to give up her seat on the bus, showcasing their understanding of her impactful actions and the enduring significance of her fight for equality.
They have also explored the extraordinary journey of Neil Armstrong, the first man to walk on the moon. This exploration was connected to their STEM lessons on space, where they are igniting their imaginations and generating ideas. The children recognise that Earth is one of many planets in our solar system and are beginning to identify the other planets, marveling at their wonders. Through creative activities, they crafted planets from playdough and constructed rockets with LEGO and boxes, linking their discoveries to Neil Armstrong's historic mission.
Aligned with sustainability, the children have examined how a bug hotel supports wildlife. They are actively designing and building their own bug hotels in groups, demonstrating their commitment to nurturing the environment.
