GET LOST IN BOOKS!

5th May 2024

In the early years reading is crucial for building a strong foundation in literacy and language skills. By engaging children with books and stories from a very young age, parents and caregivers can support their cognitive and linguistic growth.

FS2 children have hit the reading road with a bang as they have shown phenomenal reading interests. We engage them during story time by asking them questions about the plot, characters, or their favourite parts of the story. We encourage interaction while reading and explore new worlds and ideas that may not be present in their everyday lives. This helps children to develop comprehension skills and foster a love for storytelling. We have buddy and individual reading sessions in place for all the children.

Regularly reading to children helps them cultivate a habit of listening to stories, expanding their vocabulary, and fostering a lifelong appreciation for literature.
