French Lessons in Key Stage 3

4th March 2022

Learning French in Braeburn Imani is always a delight. Our lessons take a diverse range of approaches that are learner-based. During this term, Key Stage 3 students continued to enjoy their lessons as they learnt the language and the French culture.

Our students have been particularly brilliant in mastering new French vocabulary and easing their communication skills in French.

When asked about their French lessons, the students had the following thoughts to share:

French sessions are always fun and our lessons are full of interaction and collaboration making learning something new easy and enjoyable. We do lots of French projects which boost our creativity and understanding as we model what we learn and try to connect it with reality. Most of the time we demonstrate actions for each new vocabulary we learn, making it easier to understand it even better.

Nadia, Year 8

French is my personal favourite lesson because we get to learn not just the French language but an entire french culture and experience,,,, This is all thanks to our (very stylish) teacher, Mr Hannington, who comes up with creative jingles to help us remember and understand the different diverse topics we are covering.. be it conjugaison or even complex ones. In class we learn with a more inclusive approach mostly using acting and dialogue to try to bring out our full potential in the French language

Aaron, Year 9

Learning French has been really fun. We have learnt several topics widening our knowledge on this interesting language. We've projects on Ma Famille and Ma Maison. We've also done some tricky topics such as conjugation of verbs and typical essay formats. We also learn songs and hand gestures to help us master things and understand more.

Ziya, Year 9

French is an amazing subject according to me. It gives me the opportunity to showcase my speaking, listening and reading skills. I am very passionate about learning French with an amazing French teacher who has made me enjoy and understand Français with a whole new perspective. I am always waiting for our French lessons every week.

Not to forget that the French homework we receive is always so fun and educational.
