Exploring Our World Through Technology and Nature

13th June 2026

FS1 children embarked on a dynamic learning journey this week that seamlessly blended early programming with active, outdoor exploration to develop their spatial awareness and understanding of the world. The adventure began in the classroom, where the children used Bee-Bots to master foundational directional concepts like forward, backward, left and right. By pressing the buttons to program the floor robots. Through these activities, the children gained a concrete, physical understanding of positional language and developed collaborative problem-solving skills, setting the perfect stage for real-world application.

Armed with new vocabulary such as forward and backward, the young adventurers transitioned to the outdoor environment equipped with binoculars and magnifying glasses to put their navigation skills to the test. They used their binoculars to scan the horizon and identify distant objects in different directions, while magnifying glasses allowed them to investigate the natural world up close once they reached their destinations.
