Exploring Numbers Outdoors

31st January 2026

The teachers at Braeside Thika are aware that children learn equally with physical objects both indoors as well as outdoors. Through outdoor play, FS1 children have a significant opportunity to actively and joyously develop early numerical abilities. Jumping on hula hoops and matching the correct number of beanbags to numerals that were set on the ground, the children learnt counting and understanding simple number sequences in an enjoyable and practical way. They also improved their hand-eye coordination, physical strength, problem-solving skills, teamwork, social skills and confidence. Braeside Thika, a school where learners enjoy success !
