In recent years, educators have recognized the importance of integrating STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education into school curriculums to prepare students for the challenges of the future. Arduino, an open-source electronics platform, offers a versatile tool for achieving this goal. Through hands-on projects, students can explore a wide range of STEAM concepts while fostering creativity, critical thinking, and innovation.
Here at Braeside Thika, we’ve integrated STEAM education into our curriculum and there has been numerous benefits. STEAM has promoted holistic learning by encouraging students to explore connections between different subjects, creating hands-on experiences with the Arduino abstract concepts and making learning more tangible and memorable. Moreover, projects carried out foster innovation and entrepreneurship by empowering students to design, create, and interate on their own projects.
Furthermore, STEAM projects carried out during lessons are displayed during science Fairs hosted by the school which boosts the students’ self-esteem and encourages them to keep being innovative.
