Doodles to stories !

21st June 2025

It's amazing to see how children learn to write and express themselves as they grow. As they explore using different fine motor resources to help build on their muscles, their hand-eye coordination also displays growth. Slowly, they start to draw lines, curves, patterns and make representations that mean something to them.

At Braeside Thika the Early Years children are encouraged to draw, paint and make marks freely. We also talk to them about their little quick representations. Scribbles might look messy to us, but to children, they are full of meaning. These early marks help them build fine motor skills, improve coordination, and grow in confidence as they express themselves in reading for writing skills.
