Celebrating World Book Day

In line with our global citizenry approach, Braeburn Imani joined the rest of the world in celebrating the annual World Book Day.
About the World Book Day
It is simply a day set aside to create awareness and encourage people of all ages to read and publish books. Reflectively, this day is a crucial one in this fast-paced world that has turned to the internet and social media as sole sources of information.
About the event in Braeburn Imani
After weeks of collaborative departmental planning, we held the event in a fashion that inspired every learner and teachers alike to be avid readers. The activities cut across both primary and secondary.
Some of the notable activities included:
- Character dress up - Learners and teachers alike were all dressed up in character. They chose to dress up in their favourite, least favourite, or authors of books they've read.
- Fashion show: We showcased our character dressing in a fun runway.
- Guest narrator: We also invited guest narrators who had 30-minute sessions explaining to our eager learners the various narration aspects.
- Mysterious narrator: We also had mysterious narrators popping in different stations to tell stories and keep learners wondering who they might be.
- Various in-class projects: During the day, learners were superbly engaged in various in-class projects related to reading and publication. Some of the wonderful presentations included blurb-making, magazine publication, podcasts, handprints, creating book covers, and anthology of poems among others.
It was indeed a fun filled day that we all enjoyed to be part of. We can’t wait to be part of next year’s world book day exploration.
