Bringing Stories to Life in Year 4

22nd March 2025

At Braeside Thika, we believe that reading is not just an activity; it is an experience that should be seen and felt by our students.

One of the most exciting components of our reading program is the integration of drama into our lessons. By incorporating drama, we not only enhance comprehension but also allow our students to embody the characters and narratives they explore. This year, the Year 4 class truly brought to life our class reader, The Firework-Maker's Daughter.

Recently, the students created a beautiful freeze frame of the Full Moon Ceremony from the book. This activity allowed them to visually and emotionally connect with the text, as they expressed their understanding through movement and expression. The highlight of this performance was when each child shared their wishes, reflecting the essence of the story and their personal aspirations.

At Braeside Thika, we remain committed to making reading an unforgettable adventure for our students, nurturing their creativity and imagination along the way.
