Art in Early Years

14th February 2023

Braeburn Imani’s belief of a wholly educational approach makes Art an integral learning area for expressive creativity in Early Years.

Art is incorporated in one of the 7 areas of learning called Expressive arts and design. It is not only fun and entertaining but also educational.

Children are naturally curious and from the minute they gain control of their limbs, they work to put themselves out into the world displaying their creativity. In art, children do this in a range of ways including finger painting, bubble wrap painting, sponge and rollers painting among others. They explore, observe and imitate and this helps them form connections in their brain that helps them learn.

Braeburn Imani provides different resources to encourage children to become more creative, develop their fine motor skills, and enhance their concentration periods.

This week, FS1 children took a walk to the art room and being the month of love, they had an opportunity to celebrate their loved ones. They enjoyed mixing paints and made portraits of the different people they love. They painted unique pictures and each one of them had a unique way of communicating.

'This is my dad and he is very strong like the superman' Nathaniel

'Look at my mom, she is very beautiful and has long hair'_ Luna.
