Extracurricular Life

At Braeside Thika, we aim to maximise opportunities for children beyond the classroom. We believe that enhancing childhood experiences helps develop well-rounded individuals with skills for the future.

All students participate in at least one weekly extracurricular activity. The extracurricular programme supports development, access to the current curriculum, and prospects for study and work.

Sport

Sport is an integral part of our school life. Children of all abilities can participate in sports through regular game lessons, interhouse competitions, and interschool fixtures. We offer various sports, including athletics, football, rugby, hockey, swimming, cross country, netball, and rounders. Our extensive range of cocurricular activities supports our main sports programmes, allowing children to learn golf, karate, and Taekwondo. As a KAIIS (Kenya Association of Independent International Schools) member, we participate extensively in interschool sports.

Creative Arts

All students are encouraged to participate in our school productions, music concerts, talent shows, and art competitions. Our dedicated team of peripatetic music teachers offer lessons on various instruments, including drums, brass, string, and voice.

Our Community

We welcome all parents to join FABT (Friends at Braeside Thika) or attend at least one of their events. FABT brings families and friends together for social, charity and networking events.

Student Leadership

Our student leadership consists of a Student Council led by a student president, vice president, class representatives, wellbeing champions, sustainability champions and prefects. They represent and champion students’ wellbeing, communicate concerns/issues, and actively look for ways to solve problems faced by students before making recommendations to the school.
